Col. (Rtd) Richard Karasira has been dismissed as APR Chairman after 17 months in charge.
The club have yet to affirm the news, but it has been reported that Col. (Rtd) Karasira was informed of the decision today. The reports say that he will be succeeded by Brig. Gen. Deo Rusanganwa.
The decision comes on the heels of the APR's forfeiture due to breaching the rule regulating the maximum number of foreign players allowed to feature in a Rwanda Premier League match.
APR violated the rule during their goalless draw against Gorilla on Sunday, 3 November, when they played with seven foreign players in the second half although the rule allowed only six.
Gorilla instantly filed a complaint to the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) after the game, requesting that APR be accountable for exceeding the foreign player limit.
They were awarded a 3-0 victory on 6 November, and APR were fined Rwf100,000 by FERWAFA.
After committing this wrongdoing, APR have started to discipline some of their officials including Team Manager Eric Ntazinda, who was suspended on Tuesday.
Col. (Rtd) Karasira was named APR Chairman in June 2023, replacing Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, who had been appointed as Chief of Defense Staff Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).
During his tenure, he oversaw the club winning the league for an unprecedented fifth successive season, marking their 22nd league title.
