Rwanda's men’s national football team, Amavubi, have improved four spots and are now 126th in the latest FIFA World Ranking, released on Thursday. This follows their monumental 2-1 AFCON Qualifiers triumph over Benin on 15 October.
The FIFA monthly ranking is primarily determined by international games played during the month.
Rwanda played two games in October, including a gut-wrenching 3-0 defeat to Benin in Abidjan and a 2-1 victory to The Cheetahs at Amahoro Stadium.
The rollercoaster results saw Amavubi climb three spots to the 35th in Africa, gaining 6.72 points and bringing their tally to 1123.32 points.
The top six of October’s FIFA ranking remain unchanged from last month’s ranking with Argentina retaining to be the highest-ranked country after their recent 6-0 win over Bolivia. France, Spain, England and Brazil are the second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
Morocco top Africa while ranking 13th globally, followed by Senegal (20) and Egypt (30th).
Uganda remain leading the East Africa region, sitting in 87th place globally and 18th in Africa. They are followed by Kenya, who are 23rd in Africa and 106th globally, and Tanzania, who are 27th in Africa and 112th in the world.
